- Personal experiences with the name Ethan
Our oldest son is Ethan Kyle. He is our first son out of four. We have used all Biblical names for our children. Ethan is way popular now, but when we named him Ethan-it was in the 80s of the top 100 names.
I had a crush on a boy in my class named Ethan in kindergarten
My brother's name is Ethan James. My dad liked Ethan because it was historical.
My cousin’s name is Ethan. He’s pretty obnoxious sometimes, but he’s also pretty great.:)
-My son was named Ethan in 1993 - right before it exploded in popularity. People had only heard of the furniture store, Ethan Allen, before this. My MIL lamented that she could find nothing personalized with the name. I chose it because it meant "firm" in Hebrew and I wanted a strong child. I certainly got what I asked for. He is strong physically and mentally. He is self-motivated, funny, compassionate, and introspective. There are many more Ethans today than there were in 1993. I am glad that I chose his name based upon it's meaning and not because of how it sounds.
My son's name is Ethan. He was born in 1996 - before the name became so popular. I chose the name because of the meaning and because I liked the way it sounded. I wanted an uncommon name for my son, so I dislike that it has become so popular. However, it is still a great name!
My sons name is Ethan. In 2009 when he was born my parents had never even heard of the name, I waited til he was born to tell them and they were somewhat shocked and told me they liked Evan, my son is no Evan. It has a special meaning to us for several reasons,. I took the E from my father in laws first name who has passed on (Edward), also he has 2 great grandfather's with rather odd names that start with ETH, my love first started for the name from a soap I use to watch with a good looking guy named Ethan in the show and his son they called little Ethan, which we call him little E or Ee. I personally don't know anyone by that name and rarely hear it around where we live. Also its has a special meaning to us from the bible, yes its in the bible. The name is a strong name and I had it picked out for years before my son was born, and my husband and oldest son named Ryan both loved it as soon as I mentioned it. My Ethan has a strong name that suits him well and has special meaning and I feel is was meant to be his name. Also I know it will always be a household common name that's too used. Most people, when I tell them his name or they see it either don't know how to pronounce it or spell it (my brother being one of those people). He is finally after 5 years spelling it right or he must ask his wife.:-) That being said I think a name should be special for various reasons and don't worry about what other people say or think.
Some family friends named their baby son Ethan Alexander. His older sister is three; her name is Lucy. I think Ethan and Lucy go very well together as sibling names.
I've known a guy named Ethan since we were young. He's always been kind of a really annoying person. He used to tease me all the time and call me names, but I remember one day in al the years I've known him, he was actually a really nice person and he was super kind to me. He was the first out of the three Ethans I have met.
I know a kid in school named Ethan from when we were in a play together. He was a great guy and we got along really well.
I know a guy named Ethan who is pretty much the most amazing person I've ever met. He's sweet, funny, and kind to everyone, and he's also an amazing runner who aspires to go to the Olympics.
