Personal experiences with the name Peter

Peter is my brothers older name and we all just love it! its a nice common name but not for his age (hes 20) but its always good to have a good old name around.
The name just has bad connotations due the the phrase 'A Peeking Peter'. 'Pyter' from a Game of Thrones who is a weirdo doesn't help either.

Peter, Peter, pumpkin eater, had a wife but couldn't keep her. Put her in a pumpkin shell and there he kept her very well.

Peter Piper picked a peck of pretty pickled peppers.

My sister is naming her son Peter Louis. Such a strong yet gentle name. i adore it.

He's adorable! My husband adopted him. I found him putting a box over Peter's head one day.

Wha-a-at?

———————————
Peter is a family name in my family. My great-grandfather, grandfather, uncle, and cousin are all named Peter. My dad’s name is Peter as well, but the other Peters are all on my mom’s side.

I always liked the name Peter - it was a good old Bible name - but then I was at a baby shower and we were all talking about boys' names, and one lady said "I'd never give my son a name he'd be ashamed of - like Peter." I said "What's wrong with that name?" and they all laughed at me and one of them said "Peter is another word for a guy's thing!" I'd never known that, but later I heard a penis referred to as a peter several times. I like the name, but I wouldn't use it because of the connotation!

When I was a kid, there was a song called "The Purple People Eater." My older brother and his buddies sang it to the words "The Purple Peter Eater." At that time I was very young and I didn't get it, but found out what they were talking about when I was a little older. I would never name a kid Peter.

Because of the above, the name has become extinct.
