Isabella is a beautiful girl name, though a lot of it's image has been 'ruined' by Bella Swan, I still love the name.

Great name! It has definitely sprung up in popularity in the last few years. However, as an Isabella myself, I haven’t actually met too many Isabellas. So if you’re worried about your kids sharing a name with a lot of others, that is a valid fear, but there are a few things to consider:

Personal experiences with the name Isabella: | Edit

I am an Isabella and although I can't count the number of times someone has called me Isabel, I still love it.

My middle name is Nicole.

I am an Isabella and love it :) Everyone tells me that they think it's a beautiful name

My best friend's name is Isabella too, and she loves it. Another of my friends and I are a little obsessed with names, so we are always talking about what we want to be named. Whenever we ask her, however, she always responds "I love Isabella!"

My parents were going to name me Isabella. Then they thought it sounded too Italian, and we aren't Italian, so they changed it to Isabelle. I like Isabella better anyways, and I think that's not a very good reason to switch your kid's name. Plenty of names come from other cultures.

Another Isabella here! I go by the whole name, though my friends call me Izzy occasionally. I love the name. My parents liked it because it works in Spanish, Italian, and Portuguese, French and most other languages. It was (and is) a pretty common royalty name. However, if you want to name your daughter after a good role model, keep in mind that many of these queens were rather horrible people, such as Isabella (or Isabel) of Castillo, who executed hundreds of non-Christians. Some, though, did wonderful things. Isabella (or Isabel) of Brazil, who acted as regent for her father and ended slavery in Brazil. Another is St Isabella of Portugal, a Catholic saint and queen who was devoted to helping the poor and sick. She also made peace between her husband and son, who were constantly on the verge of civil war. I think you should consider the name, and again, I love it!

Meanings and history of the name Isabella: | Edit

Origin of Isabella: Spanish and Italian variation of Elizabeth, Hebrew
Meaning of Isabella: "pledged or consecrated to God"

Beautiful (Italian).

Queen Isabella of Spain dispatched Christopher Columbus for the New World.

Isabelline or Isabella, is a pale grey-yellow, pale fawn, pale cream-brown or parchment colour. It is primarily found in animal coat colouring, particularly plumage colour in birds and, in Europe, in horses. It also has historically been applied to fashion. The first known record of the word was in 1600 as "Isabella colour"; this use later became interchangeable in literature with "Isabelline" after the latter was introduced into print in 1859. The origin of the word is unclear; the uncertainty prompted by this has generated several attempts to provide an etymology and led to one prominent legend.
