- Comments and insights on the name Jared
I LOVE my name and I am most certainly NOT a Mormon. I am complemented on it all the time. I do find that I must annunciate VERY clearly when introducing my self as many people HEAR Jerry and I immediately correct them. The only playground taunt kids could come up with was "Jar-Head" which actually is a US Marine so that is not so bad.
- Personal experiences with the name Jared
Because Jared is both a Biblical and Book of Mormon name, and has popular naming elements, Jared is a popular choice among Latter-day Saints families who want a "Mormon" name for their son that is not too out of the mainstream.
Jared's my brother's name so I am a bit biased but I love the name, when I hear it I think of tousled copper hair, fishing barefoot, whittling, cracking jokes, a wide playful smile, and the bluest eyes around, everything that reminds me of him. He's a pretty amazing person and gets compliments on his name all the time. Growing up I called him Jay Jay. My mom called him Jare Bear or Jerry and his friends called him J Man.
