Hi reader my name is Aolani. i do think its a beautiful name and it comes from hawaii meaning passion and grace. i have never been teased about but, some of my teachers do pronounce it wrong. if your thinking about naming your child this please spell it different or people will say it wrong.
It was originally created as a female name, but Aolani can be used as a boy's name as well!

Personal experiences with the name Aolani

My name is Aolani and it means "Heavenly Cloud." However, if you ask a sweet old Hawaiian man selling flowers in Maui, it means "Beautiful Heavenly Cloud," but everything else I've ever found breaks down as 'lani'-heavenly and 'a/ao'-cloud or sky. It is a wonderfully unique name to have on the mainland, but fairly common in Hawaii. Almost everybody says it incorrectly on the first try and it can be very frustrating to see all the idiotic variations that people use when trying to spell it. I constantly tell people to "use their vowels" and sound it out; it's spelled just like it's said phonetically. I would recommend this name for a child who comes out with a big personality and not one who is going to be shy-I think you just know-if you ask any parent upon seeing their child for the first time, they say they can tell they're going to have their hands full with certain kids. I am grateful my parents chose a unique and beautiful name for me, even though I'm just a tall white girl who's only visited Hawaii. There's a street on Maui named Aolani Place but I've still never met another me in all my travels.
