Astrid is a beautiful name. Many North Americans aren't used to it but it's popular in Europe. Gorgeous name! Very feminine.
I was born in Norway and given this name at birth. But when I moved to the US I began to go by the nickname Ari, which everyone addresses me as now
- Personal experiences with the name Astrid
I was born and raised in the Netherlands and later emigrated to Canada. It's a beautiful and unique name but people in English speaking countries don't know how to pronounce it. It's not "Estrid or Asstrid" it's "Ah-strid" As far as it's nicknames are like astroid is very immature and likely those types of people will have a nickname for everyone. I kept my name and introduce my self as Ahstrid. A beautiful strong nordic name.
Ah-strid sounds like ostrich.
I was just going to say that but you beat me to it.
