- Comments and insights on the name Bryony
My daughter's name is Bryoni, this is another spelling.
This has been my favorite name for years. I would love to name a daughter Bryony one day.
Bryony is not traditionally pronounced "BREE-uh-nee", as listed in the current edition of the Baby Name Wizard, but "BRY-uh-nee".
- Personal experiences with the name Bryony
My name is Bryony pronounced Brian-ee with the nickname of Bree. While it's a bit annoying that people really stumble over this easily pronounceable name, along with "you were supposed to be a boy, right?" jokes, I really do love my name. I especially like the fact that I've never met another one face to face. Also, my name is always an ice-breaker when meeting new people, or at job interviews, etc.
My friend named her daughter this and pronounces it BREE-uh-NEE, not brian-y, which sound funny, and reminds me of Brian. It is a cute name to use if you want the nickname Bri but don't want to use the outdated Sabrina or Gabriella. It is also very young sounding and reminds me of Avery.
