- Personal experiences with the name Christie
•My name is Christie. I have met many Christie's in my now 27 years, but only one or two with the same spelling.
•I am also a Christie and while its not super popular (which I like), I am always getting called ChristiNe or Christina which drives me nuts!
•Also Christie, and I agree with the above posters, I've met quite a few other Christies as I got older, but as a kid I never met any and I was the only Christie at my school. Most of the others I met later had the spelling Kristy, though.
Pros: You aren't heaped in with a group of other kids who share your name, people will often compliment you on it because it's uncommon, people tend to remember it better too, because it's uncommon! Nobody ever seems to forget my name! It's also a hard name to change into an insult, I think the worst I ever got was "Krusty" from one boy when I was 5, and nothing else the rest of my life.
Cons: Obviously people always misread it or assume it's a different, similar name - Christine, Christina, Chrissy, Kirsty, Crystal, and sometimes even Chelsea. People always misspell it, usually as Kristy, so when you make appointments you have to say "Christie, with a 'CH' and an 'IE'." People always seem to ask if it's short for any of the above mentioned more common names too, and then seem shocked when I say no!
None of these cons are that annoying though, you get used to it and it's not that much of a hassle, you only have to correct somebody once when they get it wrong, and then they remember your name forever! If you really like the name then go for it, chances are somebody out there will always get your name wrong no matter what it is :)
