My name is Dolores Susan and I went by Susie as a child because my grandmother Hazel Grace thought it was an old name in the 30's and Dolores Del Rio was filming a movie in NYC. While in college I had two roommates named Susan, a bit confusing having 3 of us, when they found out my name was Dolores they started calling me that and it became a coming of age name which I proudly use today.
My Mother Joan Elizabeth had 2 girlfriends in grade school named Dolores one Polish and one German and they were both pretty popular blond girls. All born in 1931.
My grandson Zachery (now age 6) could not say Dolores so we shortened it to Lola.
