I really like this spelling. I think it gives it a nice modern twist from Emily. I also like the spelling Emilee, too.
I can see what you mean, but this spelling is by no means modern. It was actually more popular in the late 1800's than ever. I think it's a nice alternative to Emily, but people might think you're trying to be 'kre8tyv' with the spelling even though it long established, and when you call for "EM-a-lee" on the playground, all the little Emily's, Emmaleigh's, Emylie's and Emilie's will come running anyways.
This is just the French version of Emily, everyone.
- Personal experiences with the name Emilie
I prefer being Emilie over Emily. Makes me feel like a little more original then all those other millions of Emily's out there!
My husband and I named our daughter Emilie Nicole. We were going to just name her Emily at first, but then I remembered I knew, and I'm not kidding, 13 Emily's growing up (five of them had the middle name Rose, and two had Grace). So we decided to go with something a little different.
