- Comments and insights on the name Sharon
I've always thought this name kind of sounded like someone saying "sharing" with a really thick western accent haha.
Actually, I think that the above is why this name got so popular! -- at about the same time as Karen, which sounds like "caring".
I have a grandma named Sharon. She's super nice and caring, especially for animals. She feeds the 3 cats she has, one rabbit, one dog, the squirrels, and the birds. When I go over to her house, she always asks me if I want anything. She barely wants to do anything for special events though. I'm happy you stopped to read this! Thank you!
- Personal experiences with the name Sharon
I have always hated my name, because it's so awkward to pronounce. It also screams '60s to me for some reason. No good nicknames, either. I tried to go by my middle name when I got to middle school, but it never caught on. :(
I was born in the 40's, my name is not Sharon, but there were a lot of Sharons in my age group. It was like my name (Sandra), it was very popular then, but was hardly ever used after the 40's and 50's as a new batch of names became popular.
No good nicknames? How about Shari or Shaye?
I don't see where Sharon is so hard to pronounce.
Sharon is the name of my dance teacher. She is amazing she also really small<3
My name is Sharon, and I was born in 1950. Though my name ranked no. 14 in popularity then, I knew very few Sharons when I was growing up. But there were three of us in my college class (350 students). I didn't really like having an uncommon name and was the only child in my family who didn't have a nickname. I've grown to like my name now. I'm hearing of young women named Sharon now, too.
